THE MOJITO

The mojito is a refreshing and herbaceous cocktail made with white rum, sugar, mint, lime and club soda. This can be made low carb if you are following a keto/low carb diet. Adding fruit purees make different varieties of mojitos.

Ingredients
  

  • 1.5 oz White rum
  • 1 oz Simple syrup
  • ½ oz Lime juice & lime about 1/2 lime
  • 2 sprigs Fresh mint leaves
  • 5 oz Club soda
  • Ice
  • Fruit puree (opt) see note

Instructions
 

  • Add mint leaves, lime juice and lime to the bottom of a glass
  • Using a muddler or the handle of a wooden spoon smash (muddle) the ingredients for a minute to release the flavors.
  • Add rum, simple syrup, fruit puree (if using) and club soda. Mix well. Top with ice

Notes

To make a Raspberry, Blackberry or Blueberry mojito puree the fruit in a food processor with a small amount of water and add to glass.  Strain the seeds before adding if necessary.
